FAQS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhat is the difference between the Blueprint Discovery and The Reveal Program?
The Blueprint Discovery is your starting point — a comprehensive, in-person evaluation where we uncover your body’s unique blueprint for weight loss. It includes advanced lab work, phenotype testing, metabolic analysis, and a detailed review of your medical history, lifestyle, and goals. You’ll also receive a follow-up results review visit, where we explain your findings and outline your personalized treatment plan.
The Reveal Program is where that plan comes to life. Over 6 months, we implement and fine-tune your treatment through ongoing medical visits, health coaching, nutrition guidance, and any necessary prescriptions. The Blueprint Discovery tells us exactly what to do; the Reveal Program is where we do it together to help you achieve lasting results.
What makes The Reveal Program different from other weight loss plans?
Most weight loss programs follow a rigid, one-size-fits-all protocol that leaves little room for personalization—or for adjusting the plan when something isn’t working. They often lack the time and resources to truly understand your biology, teach you the “why” behind the process, or provide consistent, high-level support.
At Reveal, we use advanced testing and the B.L.U.E. Print Method™ to create a plan that’s as unique as you are. We fine-tune your treatment along the way, provide ongoing education so you understand your progress, and give you direct access to your provider and health coach. You’re never left to figure it out alone.
How long is the program?
The Reveal Premium Weight Loss Program is a 6-month commitment, designed to deliver intensive, results-focused care during this period. Some patients reach their goals and transition to a maintenance plan after 6 months. Others may still need ongoing intensive treatment beyond this timeframe—especially if we are seeing progress but need more time to achieve your full goals. In these cases, we adjust your plan and continue working closely with you. Intensive treatment is not always necessary beyond 6 months, even if you haven’t fully reached your goal, as long as your progress is steady and other health markers are improving.
What’s included in the program cost?
Your program includes all medical visits with the provider, advanced genetic and metabolic testing, labs, health coaching, nutrition oversight by a licensed dietitian, fitness design by a certified personal trainer with virtual follow ups, body composition scale to keep at home with remote monitoring, and access to our online learning modules and resources. You’ll also receive ongoing support between visits through secure messaging. Medication costs are not included, but we’ll handle prior authorizations to help maximize insurance coverage. Meal replacement options are availabe for an additional fee.
Am I a candidate for The Reveal Program?
You may be a candidate if you’ve struggled with weight loss despite your best efforts, have tried other programs without lasting success, or want a medically guided approach that takes a comprehensive look all factors related to your weight, including your genetics, physiology, lifestyle, etc. The best way to know is to start with the Blueprint Discovery Consult, where we conduct a comprehensive evaluation to lay the groundwork for your plan.
CAN I EAT OUT WHILE ON THIS PROGRAM?
Yes! Eating out is absolutely allowed. We’ll help you learn how to make mindful choices at restaurants, navigate menus, and stay aligned with your goals without feeling restricted or left out. This program is built for real life, not perfection.
DO I HAVE TO COUNT CALORIES OR TRACK MACROS?
What are meal replacements?
Meal replacements are nutritionally balanced alternatives to regular meals, designed to support your weight loss journey while ensuring you get the necessary protein, vitamins, and minerals. These can include shakes, bars, or portion-controlled meals that help simplify meal planning and maintain consistency. While not required, they can be a convenient tool for busy days or structured weight management. If you choose to incorporate meal replacements, we’ll help you select options that align with your personalized nutrition plan and health goals.
Will I get medication as part of my plan?
Most patients in The Reveal Program will benefit from medication as part of their personalized plan. When used alongside lifestyle and behavioral changes, the right medication can accelerate progress, make it easier to manage hunger, and improve your body’s response to weight loss efforts. We prescribe only FDA-approved weight loss medications and other safe, evidence-based options commonly used for weight management. Every prescription is chosen for your unique biology and needs—never just because it’s trendy or worked for someone else
What kind of results can I expect?
While individual results vary, research shows that patients treated according to their phenotype lose twice as much weight on average compared to those receiving standard, non-personalized treatment. In our program, advanced testing allows us to match your treatment to your unique biology, dramatically improving your chances of long-term success.
Many patients notice measurable changes within the first few weeks, such as reduced cravings, increased energy, and early fat loss. Over the course of the program, it’s common to see clinically significant weight loss—meaning a reduction of at least 5–10% of starting body weight, which can greatly improve health markers like blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol. Some patients exceed these numbers, especially when medication, nutrition, movement, and behavioral strategies are fully aligned with their phenotype.
Our goal is not just rapid weight loss—it’s sustainable change. By addressing the root causes, you’re far more likely to maintain your results long after the program ends.
What if I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked?
You’re exactly who this program was designed for. If you’ve struggled despite eating well, exercising, or trying multiple diets and medications, chances are no one has fully addressed the underlying biological, behavioral, and environmental factors keeping you stuck. The Reveal Program uses advanced testing, phenotype analysis, and a tailored approach to remove the guesswork—so your plan finally matches your needs.
What happens if my insurance won't cover my medication?
If your insurance denies coverage for a prescribed weight loss medication, we will:
- Assist with prior authorization and appeals to maximize your chances of approval.
- Explore alternative medications that may be more affordable or better covered.
- Discuss self-pay options, including manufacturer savings programs or discount pharmacies.
If needed, we can also adjust your treatment plan to ensure you still achieve results without unnecessary financial burden.
Which medications are used?
If medication is indicated for your treatment plan, we’ll carefully select one based on your phenotype, health history, and personal preferences to maximize effectiveness and minimize side effects.
Some of the more common medications we may prescribe include:
-
GLP-1 receptor agonists and GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists
- Semaglutide (Wegovy®, Ozempic®)
- Liraglutide (Saxenda®, Victoza®)
- Tirzepatide (Zepbound®)
-
Appetite suppressants and combination medications
- Phentermine (Adipex-P®, Lomaira®)
- Phentermine/Topiramate ER (Qsymia®)
- Bupropion/Naltrexone (Contrave®)
- Fat blockers
- Orlistat Xenical® or Alli®)
-
Other medications used off-label when clinically appropriate
- Topiramate
- Metformin
- Spironolactone (for hormonal contributors to weight gain)
- Bupropion
Do you provide B12 or MIC injections?
Currently, we do not offer B12 or MIC injections, as we focus on evidence-based treatments. We continually assess new treatment options and may include them in the future if supported by scientific research.
Do you prescribe HCG?
No. We do not prescribe HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) for weight loss.
HCG-based weight loss protocols have been widely discredited by scientific research and are not supported by evidence-based guidelines. The FDA has specifically warned against using HCG for weight loss due to safety concerns and lack of proven benefit.
At Reveal Wellness and Weight Loss, we are committed to providing safe, effective, and medically sound treatments. Our program is built on the latest obesity medicine research and includes only clinically proven tools. If medication is part of your plan, it will be chosen based on science, your medical history, and your unique phenotype to ensure the best possible outcomes.
What if I have side effects?
If a medication is causing side effects, we’ll evaluate whether the dosage needs to be adjusted, a different medication would be better suited, or if it should be discontinued altogether. Your safety and comfort are top priorities. If you experience side effects during the program, we encourage you to reach out to your provider immediately.
Will I gain weight again after stopping medication?
It’s possible, but not inevitable. Weight regain after stopping medication can happen if the underlying drivers of weight gain aren’t fully addressed. That’s why we never use medication as a standalone solution.
Our entire program is built to equip you with the tools, knowledge, and habits needed for long-term success, whether you're on medication or not. Throughout your journey, you’ll develop sustainable strategies for nutrition, movement, stress management, and mindset that go far beyond what any pill can do.
If medication is part of your plan, we’ll help you transition off thoughtfully and strategically. This includes monitoring how your body responds, adjusting your nutrition and physical activity plan, and continuing ongoing support through our Momentum Membership if you choose to stay connected.
The goal isn’t to keep you on medication forever. Our mission is to help you become stronger, more confident, and in control of your health no matter what tools you're using.
Do you accept Medicare?
At this time, we do not accept Medicare, and our practice is unable to provide services to Medicare beneficiaries. Our weight loss program is designed as a highly individualized, concierge-style service, which does not align with Medicare’s coverage structure. To ensure the highest level of personalized care, we remain independent of Medicare guidelines and offer flexible payment options for those interested in our services.
Do you offer monthly payment plans?
Yes, we do. At Reveal Wellness and Weight Loss, we want to make high-quality, individualized care as accessible as possible. While full payment is required before starting the program, we offer financing options through CareCredit, which allows you to break the total cost into manageable monthly payments.
You can apply for CareCredit directly and, once approved, use it to cover the cost of your program. Apply here.
We also accept all major credit cards, health savings accounts (HSA), and flexible spending accounts (FSA) for eligible expenses, such as the MyPhenome® Test.
What happens if I need to cancel my program enrollment?
The Reveal Program is designed to start working for you right away, which means your journey begins the moment you enroll—immediately after your Blueprint Discovery Results Review. Because of this, enrollment is considered final, and refunds aren’t available.
We take time during your Results Review to walk you through your personalized plan, answer all of your questions, and make sure you feel completely confident before moving forward. We want you to say “yes” only when you’re ready and excited to begin.
If an unexpected situation arises after enrollment, please reach out to us directly. We’ll do our best to discuss your options and provide support based on your circumstances.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for the program?
Yes! We accept Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards to pay for the program. However, reimbursement eligibility depends on your specific HSA/FSA provider and their guidelines. Generally, if the program is prescribed to treat a medical condition, such as obesity, you might qualify for reimbursement.
How are payments made for the program?
Why is this program not covered by insurance?
Our program is a highly personalized, concierge-style service that goes beyond what traditional insurance covers. Insurance typically only reimburses for brief, standardized visits and does not support the comprehensive metabolic testing, genetic analysis, personalized meal planning, health coaching, and ongoing high-touch support that our program provides.
By operating outside of insurance, we can focus entirely on delivering the highest level of individualized care without restrictions, delays, or unnecessary barriers to treatment. However, HSA and FSA funds may be used for program fees and eligible medical expenses.
If requested, we are happy to provide you with a superbill after each medical visit to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement which may cover some costs of the program.
If cost is a concern, we do offer financing options through CareCredit, if that is of interest to you. You can apply for CareCredit directly and, once approved, use it to cover the cost of your program. Apply here.

If you’ve reached your goals or are steadily progressing, you can join our Maintenance Membership that includes quarterly visits to keep you on track. If you need continued active treatment, we’ll discuss an extended plan.
IS THIS PROGRAM SAFE FOR PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS LIKE DIABETES OR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?
Yes! Dr. Kimberli Spencer, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, is an experienced family nurse practitioner with years of expertise in managing complex medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders.
Every aspect of The Reveal Program is medically supervised, with comprehensive lab testing, metabolic assessments, and ongoing monitoring to ensure safety.
If you're taking medications for a chronic condition, Dr. Spencer will adjust your treatment plan as needed and can coordinate with your primary care provider to ensure continuity of care. Many patients experience improved blood sugar, blood pressure, and overall health as they lose weight.
Do I need to have a certain amount of weight to lose to enroll?
No. If excess weight is impacting your health, energy, or quality of life, you deserve a personalized plan. The program is designed for people who are overweight or living with obesity, but treatment is always individualized.
Do I need a referral from my primary care provider?
No referral is needed. You can book your Blueprint Discovery Consult directly.
How much weight do I need to lose?
The amount of weight you should lose depends on your individual health goals, medical history, and metabolic needs. We focus on health-first, sustainable weight loss rather than a specific number on the scale. Even a 5-10% reduction in body weight can lead to significant health improvements, such as better blood sugar control, reduced inflammation, and lower risk of chronic disease.
At your first visit, we’ll assess your unique needs and set realistic, personalized goals based on your body composition, metabolism, and overall health.
Will i have to attend group meetings?
No, the Reveal Program is one-on-one and fully personalized, ensuring that your care is tailored to your unique needs.
In the future we may add support groups for those who prefer to participate in a group setting, but those would be completely optional.
CAN I USE SMART DEVICES TO TRACK MY PROGRESS?
Yes! We encourage the use of smart devices to help track your progress. Our patient portal syncs with popular fitness apps and wearables, allowing you to log weight, body composition, physical activity, heart rate, sleep, and more.
After enrolling in the Reveal Program you’ll receive your own body composition scale, which provides detailed insights into your weight and body composition (fat vs water vs lean mass). This data is transmitted to your medical provider remotely and helps us tailor your treatment plan based on real-time progress.
While smart devices aren’t required, they can be a helpful tool for accountability and motivation throughout your journey.
Can I message the provider directly?
Yes! Enrolled patients enjoy unlimited direct messaging access to the medical provider through our secure patient portal. You can ask questions, get clarification on your treatment plan, and receive support between visits without ever having to go through a middle-man.
Our goal is to provide personalized, high-touch support, ensuring you feel guided and informed throughout your weight loss journey.
WHAT IS THE PATIENT PORTAL, AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The patient portal is a highly secure, HIPAA compliant online platform available as a mobile app and through a web browser, giving you access to all aspects of your weight loss program anytime, anywhere. Through the portal, you can:
- Track your progress – Log food, physical activity, sleep, hydration, mood, and more to monitor habits and trends.
- Receive feedback – The provider can review your logged entries and provide guidance based on your progress.
- Sync smart wearables – Connect compatible devices to automatically track health metrics.

Personalized meal planning is provided through a separate app, where you can view and modify your custom nutrition plan. You’ll receive setup instructions for both the patient portal and meal planning app upon enrollment.
WHAT ROLE DOES EXERCISE PLAY IN THE PROGRAM?
Exercise is an important part of a comprehensive weight loss strategy, but it’s not the sole focus of our program. We tailor physical activity recommendations based on your fitness level, goals, and any limitations you may have.
Patients enrolled in The Reveal Program receive a monthly virtual consult with our personal trainer, where customized workout plans are developed, and form/technique is reviewed.
Exercise helps preserve muscle mass, supports metabolic health, and enhances overall well-being, but weight loss is primarily driven by nutrition and metabolic factors, which we address through our comprehensive, personalized approach.
IS MY extra WEIGHT caused by a hormone imbalance?
Hormones play a significant role in weight regulation, but excess weight is usually caused by a combination of factors, including genetics, metabolism, lifestyle, and medical conditions. We take a comprehensive, science-based approach to uncover the root causes of weight gain.
As part of your evaluation, we assess for hormonal imbalances that may impact weight, such as:
- Thyroid dysfunction (hypothyroidism)
- Insulin resistance (which can lead to fat storage and cravings)
- Cortisol dysregulation (chronic stress and weight gain)
- Sex hormone imbalances (PCOS, menopause-related changes)
If a hormonal issue is identified, we incorporate targeted treatments to address it, ensuring that your weight loss plan is tailored to your body's unique needs.
Can I see Dr. Spencer for primary care?
Do you take care of patients who want or have had bariatric surgery?
Do you accept walk-in appointments?
No, we do not accept unscheduled walk-in visits. All visits are by appointment only, as our programs are highly individualized and require comprehensive assessments.
CAN I CONTACT MY PROVIDER OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS IN CASE OF AN URGENT CONCERN?
For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
If you have a non-life-threatening concern that arises outside of business hours, like a medication side effect or unexpected issue, we encourage you to send a message through your portal for the fastest response.
HOW DO VIRTUAL VISITS WORK?
Virtual medical visits are conducted through our secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform and can be accessed from your phone, tablet, or computer. You’ll receive a link through the patient portal to join your scheduled visit.
Virtual medical visits last up to 45 minutes, and we’ll review your progress, adjust your treatment plan, and address any questions. Just find a quiet, private space with a good internet connection; no special equipment needed.
